“Using available sources and my own reconstructions as reference, this one was much harder to do than the others in regards to reconstructing his face, as there are no frontal visuals available other than Verrocchio’s “David”, who happens to be smirking, and 14 years old… which was not what I wanted.
“The long curls were mentioned by a contemporary from Leonardo’s early days in Florence, so I thought I’d give it a go. As before, hair and eye colour are somewhat guess work, and the freckles my personal touch. And of course, this is also a homage to Leonardo’s ‘Salvator Mundi.’”
