This is one of the first books I pulled off my Dad’s shelves when I was little.  I was so proud to have read it all the way through.  I also liked the story.  Dad’s copy even had this cover on it.  /nostalgia — whisperinglion

70’s cheeze! Saturday morning television and the wonderful world Sid and Marty Krofft. “H.R. Pufnstuf” was one of my favorites… I just loved Witchiepoo! played by Billie Hayes. “Boogaloos” were annoying but Martha Rye was fun.. “Lidsville” featured Charles Nelson Reilly and among many others there was “The Lost Saucer” very cheezy! to the MAX! I watched it cause I loved Ruth Buzzi (Laugh-In) and co-starred Jim Nabors.

Children of the quirky 70s Saturday mornings in front of the tube!  I watched H.R. Pufnstuf and this (The Lost Saucer), too.  To think, I still turned out just fine.      Well, pretty much.  ;)

The Lost Saucer Opening Sid And Marty Krofft - Starring Jim Nabors and Ruth Buzzi

El Wiki quote:
The Lost Saucer was about two time-travelling futuristic androids named Fi (Ruth Buzzi) and Fum (Jim Nabors) who land their flying saucer on present day Earth. They inexplicably invite a young boy named Jerry (Jarrod Johnson) and his babysitter Alice (Alice Playten) to check out the interior of their craft.

Whoa! I remember I watched that when I was a kid!

Time Life Books on the Old West.  We had a set of these on the bookshelves when I was a kid.  I loved the leather covers, illustrations, and stories.

Reblog if you remember

idjitsandassbutts:

foreverhiddlestoned:

  • what dial-up sounds like.
  • the sound a floppy disk makes when you put it in the computer.
  • Wishbone.
  • Bill Nye the Science Guy.
  • blowing into the cartridge of the Playstation game when it started screwing up.
  • owning Titanic on a two-volume VHS set.
  • using cassettes.

Playstation played discs. Nintendo/Sega used cartridges.

  • Yes, but I also remember days before Internet existed, and we had a rotary phone where I could pick up the receiver and hear other phone calls in progress….or dial “0” and pester the operator with toddler questions.
  • Yes, but I also remember the days before computers were available to the general public.
  • Yes, but I also remember the days before that when “wishbone” meant my sister and I jointly breaking the bone and sharing the wish.
  • Yes, but I also remember Captain Kangaroo and, later, crying when Mr. Green Jeans died.
  • Yes, but I also remember pong on the Atari being quite a novelty in our house, and it was plugged into our black-and-white television.
  • We didn’t own any other than home movies on reels you produced by turning a crank on the movie camera.
  • Yes, but I also remember 8-track tapes; and, before that, I remember the 33’s, 45’s, and even marveling over my parents’ 78 collection.

"My work is a form of evolved contemplation. If you live in nature for a time, you have almost mystical experiences. You get into a state of lyrical excitement and become part of the things that are happening around you: the grass quivering, the birds singing. On a sunny day there is an extraordinary feeling of energy, as light dazzles, bees buzz, birds dart, lizards slither. Nature moves through your veins in a spiritual way, and then the work of art flows out like birdsong."

What is your current desktop picture?
See above image by Dibujos de guerra.

And, with this, kids, you now have all the questions from the questionnaire answered that I’ll be answering.  I suppose, if you’re curious, you can always send me a message with other questions.  I’ll try to refrain from ripping your heart out in “Heart of the One World” fashion.  :)
