Sharks and Calvin and oh my god.

Shark Week, anyone?

The snow sculpture series is the best in Calvin & Hobbes.  :)

Heh.  Reminds me of a story told by one of the writers at a writer’s workshop recently.  It was a workshop on the “Suspension of Disbelief.”  He mentioned that it is weird how a reader will suspend disbelief for one portion of a tale while not doing so for something that is just as unbelievable or more so.  As an example, he mentioned that Gary Larson (Far Side cartoonist) said he had a reader write to him to complain that he had the wrong sex of mosquito drinking blood.  Never mind that the male and female mosquitoes were both wearing clothes and living in a mosquito-sized house with little furniture!  Getting the right bloodsucker doing the sucking was important!  (chuckle)

"Calvin: Look, a dead bird!
Hobbes: It must’ve hit a window.
Calvin: Isn’t it beautiful? It’s so delicate. Sighhh… once it’s too late, you appreciate what a miracle life is. You realize that nature is ruthless and our existence is very fragile, temporary, and precious. But to go on with your daily affairs, you can’t really think about that…which is probably why everyone takes the world for granted and why we act so thoughtlessly. It’s very confusing. I suppose it will all make sense when we grow up.
Hobbes: No doubt."
